Joe Pawlak, Offensive Line Coach, Departs Montana Grizzlies to Join Western Michigan

Offensive line coach Joe Pawlak has left Montana after just one season to take on the same position at Western Michigan, as announced by the Broncos. During his time at Montana, the Grizzlies ranked 18th in the FCS in scoring offense and 26th in total offense. They finished fourth in the Big Sky Conference in scoring offense but struggled with allowing sacks.

Pawlak, who previously coached at North Dakota, joins head coach Lance Taylor’s staff at Western Michigan, an FBS program in the Mid-American Conference. Taylor expressed his excitement over Pawlak’s addition to the coaching staff, highlighting his experience and track record of developing players.

Montana has not yet announced a replacement for Pawlak, but Football Scoop reported that Cameron Norcross is expected to take over the offensive line coach position. Norcross brings 20 years of NCAA Division I coaching experience, most recently serving as the offensive line coach/run game coordinator at Kennesaw State.

The Grizzlies are wrapping up their spring practices and will conclude with the annual Grizzly Scholarship Association Spring Game. Montana finished last season with a 9-5 record and is set to kick off the 2025 season in September with a home game against Central Washington. The team is preparing for the upcoming season under new coaching leadership as they aim for success on the field.
