Republican Dominance Shown in Montana Election with Nearly 600,000 Ballots Cast
In the recent 2024 election in Montana, nearly 600,000 residents cast their ballots, highlighting the dominance of the Republican Party in both state and national politics. One voter, Rose Butler from Deer Lodge, expressed optimism for the future, especially with former President Donald Trump’s re-election, citing his good ideas and tenacious leadership qualities that she believes will benefit the country.
On the other hand, veteran and retired firefighter Pete Liazza from McAllister expressed relief at the election results, criticizing the Democratic Party for being out of touch with the working class and praising Republicans for focusing on family and bread-and-butter issues.
However, some residents like Aurora Cosgriffe from Billings expressed concern about the consolidation of power, particularly in light of Trump’s remarks about not needing to vote again after 2024. Cosgriffe worried that this could lead to an ultimate fascist state controlled by the wealthy and elite.
Despite frustrations with the election results, such as the seven-hour wait to vote in-person in Great Falls experienced by Fern Corwin, some residents like Corwin are focusing on spreading kindness and diffusing divisiveness. With new elected leaders set to take office in January, the political landscape in Montana is poised for change and residents are hopeful for the future.
