Montana Tech volleyball defeats Carroll, boosting chances for third consecutive championship

The No. 19 Montana Tech volleyball team secured a dominant 3-1 victory over Carroll College, maintaining their position at the top of the Frontier Conference standings. Led by Rhys Layton’s 54 assists and Olivia Labeau’s 20 kills and four blocks, the Orediggers displayed a strong performance both offensively and defensively. With contributions from twelve different players on defense, Montana Tech limited Carroll to a .024 hitting percentage.

The Orediggers, with a record of 17-8 overall and 9-3 in conference play, are in a prime position to claim the Frontier Conference title as the regular season winds down. Currently tied for first place with Providence, Montana Tech has crucial matchups against Rocky Mountain, Montana Western, and Providence remaining on their schedule.

With No. 14 Providence defeating No. 15 Montana Western, the Orediggers and the Argos are now one game ahead of the Bulldogs in the standings. If Montana Tech can win their remaining games, they will secure the conference title outright. Even with a 2-1 record in their final games, the Orediggers could still potentially share the crown.

Fans of Montana Tech volleyball can look forward to an exciting conclusion to the regular season as the team aims to maintain their winning streak and clinch the Frontier Conference title.
