Vice President Kamala Harris, 59, recently released a summary of her medical records, which indicated that she is in good health. Her White House physician, Dr. Joshua Simmons, described her as a healthy 59-year-old with a history of seasonal allergies and urticaria (hives). He mentioned that she maintains her health with over-the-counter allergy medications and allergen immunotherapy for her hives, which have not resulted in severe symptoms.
Dr. Simmons also noted that Harris follows a healthy diet, engages in regular aerobic and strength training exercises, drinks in moderation, and does not use tobacco products. Her most recent medical exam in April was unremarkable, with all routine exams and bloodwork coming back normal. While there was mild sun damage on her skin in sun-exposed areas, there were no significant concerns identified.
In contrast, former President Donald Trump has yet to release his medical records, despite promising to do so. Trump’s last medical report in November 2023 only briefly mentioned that he was in excellent health, lacking specific details. The focus on Harris’ health is seen as a response to criticisms of Trump’s age during the presidential campaign. Harris’s campaign has released an ad questioning what would happen if Trump were unable to fulfill his duties, highlighting concerns about his age and capacity as president. This move reflects a strategy to shift attention away from age-related concerns about the current administration.
