First lady Jill Biden will have a role at the Democratic National Convention to pay tribute to her husband, President Joe Biden, who was originally the party’s presidential nominee. She has privately expressed dismay at Democrats who did not stand by her husband during a challenging political chapter. The couple will be at the convention on Monday evening and will not stay for the rest of it to avoid taking the spotlight away from Vice President Kamala Harris. Jill plans to keep teaching English and writing at a community college while also working on her Joining Forces initiative to help military spouses. She will host a spousal program at the U.N. General Assembly next month. Jill sees being first lady as an act of service and has been a strong supporter of her husband, especially during his decision to end his re-election bid. She has often expressed gratitude to those who supported Joe and continues to advocate for important issues such as cancer research and women’s health. Throughout their time in office, the Bidens have prioritized connecting with politicians and people across the country, with Jill traveling to more than 40 states and 19 countries during her time as first lady. She remains committed to serving the American people and will continue her efforts to make a positive impact.
