Flavor Flav and Alexis Ohanian join forces to assist Olympian Veronica Fraley with housing expenses

Track and field athlete Veronica Fraley, a 2024 NCAA discus champion, expressed frustration on social media about not being able to pay her rent ahead of her Olympics debut in Paris. Rapper Flavor Flav and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian both responded by sending her money to help cover her rent. Flavor Flav paid Fraley’s rent in full, while Ohanian sent her $7,760 through Venmo. Fraley, who is pursuing her second master’s degree from Vanderbilt, clarified that her frustration was with rules that prevent her from earning what she is worth as a collegiate athlete, particularly regarding name, image, and likeness compensation. She also shared a GoFundMe campaign to seek support from the public for her future athletic endeavors beyond the Olympics. The response from internet users was sympathetic, with many expressing shock that an Olympian was struggling to make ends meet. Fraley expressed gratitude for the support she received and hopes to represent Team USA well in the upcoming competitions. She is aiming for the 2025 World Championships and 2028 Olympics as she begins her professional track and field career.
