Ryan Garcia was expelled from the World Boxing Council for making racist remarks against Black people and disparaging Muslims in livestreamed comments on social media. The WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced the penalty on X, stating that they reject any form of discrimination. Garcia posted an apology on X, claiming he was “trolling” and expressing a desire for violence to stop. His attorney did not respond to a request for comment. Garcia had previously been suspended for a year by the New York State Athletic Commission for testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs following a victory over Devin Haney.
