A shooting at Yellowstone National Park’s Canyon Village resulted in the death of one person and injuries to a park ranger. The incident began Wednesday night and ended Thursday morning. Rangers responded to reports of a person making threats with a firearm, leading to an exchange of gunfire and the death of the individual involved. The injured ranger is in stable condition and being treated at a hospital. The FBI is leading the investigation, with assistance from National Park Service special agents. The Canyon Lodge area remains closed for investigation, however, there are no active threats to the public. Eyewitness Todd Heskett heard gunshots and received instructions to stay in his room at the Canyon Village hotel. The eatery, visitor center, and general store were temporarily shut down, but an emergency alert later informed guests that the situation had been resolved and it was safe to leave. Additional information about the incident has not been released at this time.
