Anthony Calls on Guyanese to Adopt Healthier Lifestyle to Combat Cardiovascular Diseases

Minister of Health, Dr Frank Anthony, has called on Guyanese citizens to adopt healthier lifestyles in order to reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in the country. His comments were made at the launch of the SOCA Heart Project, a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Health, Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, Caribbean Heart Institute, and Strides592. The project aims to raise awareness of cardiovascular health and funds to support related initiatives in Guyana.

Dr Anthony emphasized the importance of lifestyle choices in preventing diseases, noting that many cardiovascular conditions are linked to unhealthy habits. He stressed the need for increased educational programs to promote healthier living among the population.

The launch event took place at the Windjammer Hotel in Kitty, Georgetown and included presentations on the various aspects of the SOCA Heart Project. The project encompasses educational campaigns, awareness campaigns, and fundraising efforts to support cardiovascular health initiatives in Guyana.

The Minister’s call to action comes as cardiovascular diseases continue to be a major health concern in the country, with high rates of heart disease and strokes reported. By promoting healthier lifestyles and raising awareness of preventive measures, the SOCA Heart Project aims to reduce the burden of cardiovascular diseases on the Guyanese population.

Moving forward, the Ministry of Health and its partners will work together to implement the various aspects of the project and engage with the community to promote cardiovascular health. Through ongoing efforts and collaboration, they hope to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the people of Guyana.
