Latest Updates: Israel conducts strikes in southern Gaza following evacuation orders

Israeli forces targeted areas of Khan Younis in southern Gaza that had launched rockets at Israel on Monday. The military ordered new evacuations in Khan Younis and Rafah, leading scores of patients and medical staff at the European Gaza Hospital to flee. Most of Gaza’s population has been displaced due to the ongoing conflict. Nevertheless, the United Nations condemned the evacuation order as a dangerous sign of instability in Gaza. Dr. Mohammed Harara shared videos showing the chaos of evacuation at the hospital, with wounded patients being transferred in the midst of volatile conditions. Another doctor reported mass chaos at Nasser Hospital as more patients arrived from the European Gaza Hospital. The evacuation was difficult due to destroyed roads and crowded conditions. The European Gaza Hospital had around 300 to 400 beds and was overrun with displaced people before the evacuation order was issued. The hospital previously housed international health workers stranded during a border seizing incident in May. Dr. Mohammed Tahir, a British orthopedic surgeon, expressed disbelief and sadness at leaving his patients behind during the evacuation. The ongoing conflict in the region has led to a dire humanitarian situation, with medical staff and patients facing perilous conditions.
