Vance Takes Brief Trip to Montana to Meet with Murdochs and Other Fox News Executives, Sources from AP Report

Vice President JD Vance’s Surprise Visit to Montana Sparks Speculation

By Michelle L. Price, WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President JD Vance made an unannounced visit to Montana on Tuesday, where he met with media mogul Rupert Murdoch, his son Lachlan, head of Fox News, and other Fox executives. The meeting took place at the Murdoch family’s expansive ranch near Dillon, Montana, a property known for its sprawling landscapes and cattle.

The Vice President’s office did not disclose the purpose or details of the discussions, leaving many to speculate about the significance of the gathering. Local excitement surged when Air Force Two was spotted at Butte airport, followed by Vance’s motorcade heading to the Murdoch ranch, which is approximately 70 miles south of Butte.

Flight regulations indicated that Vance’s time in Montana was limited, with the plane only on the ground for a few hours. His swift return to Washington was presumably to prepare for a lunch meeting with former President Donald Trump the following day, scheduled in advance.

The Murdoch family has historically maintained close ties with Republican figures and has supported Trump throughout his political career. Rupert Murdoch, who recently stepped down from leading Fox News and News Corp., has remained a key figure in conservative media.

Montana state Auditor James Brown played a role in organizing the trip and reportedly assisted Vance’s staff during the visit. Although Brown was unavailable for comment following the visit, his involvement highlighted local connections to the vice president’s unexpected stop.

The media and political community are keenly watching the implications of this meeting, as Vance’s relationship with influential media leaders could play a significant role in shaping conservative narratives moving forward.
