MT Department of Transportation Begins Road Work on I-15 Near Helena
HELENA — The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) announced the commencement of road work on an 11-mile stretch of Interstate 15 running through Helena. The project is set to start on June 16 and aims for completion within the same construction season.
Work will take place from south of the South Helena Interchange (Exit 190) near the Lewis and Clark and Jefferson County line, extending to just north of the Lincoln Road Interchange (Exit 200). Crews will be sealing and resurfacing the pavement along the roadway and its interchange ramps.
MDT Engineering Project Manager Craig Durkin stressed the importance of safety, urging drivers to slow down and stay alert in the construction zone. Although the project is expected to progress swiftly, there will be temporary closures on certain interchange ramps to allow the sealant to set properly.
Travelers can expect single-lane traffic in each direction and reduced speed limits during the work. Motorcyclists are encouraged to seek alternative routes. For the latest updates on road conditions and restrictions, traffic users can visit 511mt.net.
