Bobcat Rodeo Teams Gear Up for National Championship in Casper
BOZEMAN, Montana – The Bobcat men’s and women’s rodeo teams are poised for a strong showing at the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming, from June 15-21. Coach Kyle Whitaker expressed confidence in his diverse group of competitors, stating, "This year, I feel that everybody is a threat," highlighting the team’s performance as Big Sky Region champions.
Nine men will represent Montana State University (MSU), featuring standout competitors like Cole Detton, Cole Gerhardt, and Wyatt Jensen, alongside all-around champion Michael McCormick. The women’s team, while inexperienced with all seven members making their CNFR debuts, is also energized and prepared.
Assistant coach Savanna Bolich noted the blend of seasoned seniors and eager freshmen, emphasizing that their consistent preparation throughout the season will be pivotal. "We’re going to stress being consistent and just making runs," she said.
The CNFR kicks off with roughstock events on Sunday, continuing through to Saturday’s championship performance. Whitaker acknowledged that the event’s extended format presents unique challenges but believes the Bobcats’ prior experiences will serve them well. Evening performances will stream live on ESPN3.
