Change of Command Ceremony Marks New Era for Montana National Guard
HELENA — The Montana National Guard witnessed a significant transition during a Change of Command ceremony at Fort Harrison, marking the end of Maj. Gen. Pete Hronek’s four-year leadership. Brigadier General Trenton Gibson, promoted from Colonel, assumes the role of Adjutant General and director of the Montana Department of Military Affairs.
Maj. Gen. Hronek lauded the continuity of leadership, assuring troops of ongoing support as he passes the baton. Having served for over 40 years, he expressed gratitude for his tenure and plans to enjoy more time with his family after retirement.
Brig. Gen. Gibson, with three decades of experience in the National Guard and 25 years in Military Affairs, acknowledged the trust placed on him and the importance of surrounding himself with competent personnel to achieve success. He emphasized, “Leadership is leadership,” drawing similarities between his previous role at the Montana Youth Challenge Academy and his new responsibilities.
Governor Greg Gianforte praised both leaders, highlighting Gibson’s ability to continue the legacy established by Hronek. As of this report, a successor for the Montana Youth Challenge Academy has yet to be announced.
