WESTERN MONTANA — This week, Western Montana is buzzing with significant local events and initiatives.
In Missoula’s Rattlesnake neighborhood, an interpretive panel has been unveiled to honor the unmarked cemetery of Chinese immigrants, reflecting on the community’s contributions and the injustices they faced during its peak in 1892. A related documentary, "The Bodies Beneath Us," will be screened at the Roxy Theater on June 8.
In another uplifting event, Logan Health hosted its inaugural Cancer Survivor Celebration on Saturday, recognizing Cancer Survivor Month. The gathering provided survivors and their families with a day of joy and education about available resources, highlighting the vital role community support plays in overcoming cancer struggles. Survivors shared inspiring stories, fostering hope and unity.
Additionally, the Fort Missoula Native Plant Garden is calling for volunteers this summer. Community members are invited to lend a hand in maintaining the garden, which showcases local flora.
