Faith Howard Named 2025 Gatorade Montana Softball Player of the Year
CHICAGO — Helena High School standout Faith Howard has been awarded the prestigious title of 2025 Gatorade Montana Softball Player of the Year, announced on Monday. The senior right-handed pitcher and first baseman was instrumental in leading the Bengals to a victorious season, culminating in a trip to the Class AA state tournament with a commendable 17-4 record.
In the pitching circle, Howard boasted an impressive 15-2 record, accompanied by a remarkable 1.42 ERA and a 0.81 WHIP. She demonstrated her talent by striking out 225 batters over 123.2 innings pitched and contributed at the plate with a .323 batting average and 13 RBIs.
Brittany Williams, head coach of Kalispell Flathead, lauded Howard’s performance, highlighting her “dominance in every sense of the word,” and praised her pitching skills, including her effective change and rise ball. Williams noted Howard’s pivotal role in leading Helena to its first conference title in 35 years, emphasizing the rarity of such consistent pitching talent.
Beyond her athletic accomplishments, Howard has maintained an impressive 3.8 GPA and actively participated in community service, volunteering with Bengal Buddies—a program where high schoolers mentor younger students—as well as working as a certified nursing assistant at a local elderly care facility.
Looking forward, Howard will continue her softball journey at Montana State University Billings. She marks a significant milestone as the first player from Helena High to receive the Gatorade award, following in the footsteps of Kathryn Emmert, who took home the honor in 2024 for Helena Capital.
