Report: Nick Chubb Likely to Sign with Texans

Running back Nick Chubb is reportedly poised to sign with the Houston Texans, contingent upon passing his physical, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. The 29-year-old Chubb, who played for the Cleveland Browns, participated in only eight games last season after a season-ending knee injury occurred in Week 2. He managed to rush for 332 yards and three touchdowns, while averaging 3.3 yards per carry. Additionally, he caught five passes for 31 yards and one touchdown before his season was cut short due to a broken foot.

Despite having Joe Mixon, Dameon Pierce, Woody Marks, and Dare Ogunbowale on their roster, the Texans are interested in Chubb primarily due to injury concerns; both Mixon and Pierce missed games in 2024. Chubb was a second-round pick by the Browns in 2018 and established a solid career, averaging over 5 yards per carry across his first six seasons. However, the Browns’ decision to draft two running backs this spring indicated their intention to move on from him.

During his time with the Browns, Chubb was a standout player, being selected to the Pro Bowl four times and earning second-team All-Pro honors in 2022. His significant contributions to the team make him a valuable addition to the Texans, who appear eager to bolster their backfield ahead of the new season.
