Montana Renaissance Festival Celebrates 15th Year in Red Lodge
RED LODGE, Mont. – The Montana Renaissance Festival has kicked off its 15th year, enchanting attendees with a vibrant display of medieval culture including jousting, sword fighting, and trapeze performances. Festival-goers donned elaborate costumes, with characters ranging from elves and knights to fairies and peasants.
Hannah Showers, a fair attendee and bride-to-be, showcased her group’s imaginative outfits, humorously describing them as "Hot Wizard" and "Plague Rat." Another participant, Anastasia Alvieran, embodied an elf with a backstory involving a plague bite, while Joce McCullough portrayed the executioner’s wife, humorously commenting on her expectations for the festivities.
Attendees echoed the festival’s community spirit, with many returning annually to enjoy the camaraderie and vibrant performances. Teslin Ruge, a performer, highlighted the joy of seeing everyone dress up, while fellow performer Alexander Butterfield shared tales of rigorous training and injuries sustained in pursuit of authenticity.
Event organizer Queen Abigail praised the festival’s economic impact, noting that local accommodations were fully booked. She encouraged newcomers to experience the festival, emphasizing that costumes are optional. For more details, visit montanarenfest.com.
