Choteau’s Natalie Hodgskiss and Rusch Yeager Target Back-to-Back State Championship Titles

Choteau Track Stars Aim for Repeat Success

CHOTEAU — Choteau High School’s sophomore track and field athletes Natalie Hodgskiss and Rusch Yeager are determined to defend their Class B state championships from last season as the 2025 campaign unfolds.

Hodgskiss, who won the 1,600-meter run last spring, is feeling more confident this year. “I’m doing a lot better now than I was at this point last year—it’s definitely given me a boost,” she said during practice. She is striving to improve her personal bests, particularly after a strong performance at the Choteau Acantha Invitational, where she captured titles in the mile, 800, and 400-meter events.

“I know that’s not just going to be given back to me,” she observed, underscoring her motivation to train diligently. Her success in the previous season has fueled her ambition for the upcoming competitions.

In a remarkable feat, Yeager cleared a high jump of 6 feet, 4¼ inches at the same event, breaking a Choteau school record. “It was my goal for the season, and doing it at home was extra special with family and friends around,” he said. Yeager currently holds the top mark among Class B competitors, but he aims even higher, expressing aspirations of surpassing 6 feet, 6 inches.

As both athletes prepare for their next challenge at the Choteau Twilight meet on April 24, they remain focused on their goals. Hodgskiss attributes her training regimen to her desire for personal achievements, while Yeager remains committed to pushing his limits as he dreams of reaching the 7-foot mark in high jump.

With strong starts to the season, Hodgskiss and Yeager are poised for another stellar performance as they look to defend their titles.
