Breezy Weekend Forecast: Fire Weather Warning Issued for Montana

Warm and Windy Weekend Ahead for Montana

MONTANA — Residents of Montana should brace for a warm and windy weekend, with temperatures soaring into the 90s in some areas. A high-pressure system is expected to usher in hot weather early next week, bringing a possibility of showers, particularly across central and southeast regions, including major cities like Billings and Great Falls.

A wind advisory is currently in effect for Fort Peck Lake and northeastern Montana, with gusts reaching up to 40 mph. In Glasgow, a fire weather warning is also issued due to dry conditions and strong winds, heightening the risk of wildfires.

Today, temperatures will vary significantly, ranging from 72 degrees in Great Falls to a sizzling 93 degrees in nearby Lewiston, Idaho. As the week progresses, areas like Missoula and Kalispell are forecasted to experience similar high temperatures. However, a cooling trend is expected midweek, with rain possible on Wednesday and Thursday.

Windy conditions persist across eastern Montana, with gusts anticipated between 20 to 40 mph. An extended forecast indicates a return to more seasonal temperatures by midweek, providing some relief from the heat.
