Great Falls Welcomes Montana Club Baseball Conference in Groundbreaking First Season

GREAT FALLS — A new era for baseball has begun in Montana with the launch of the Montana Club Baseball Conference (MCBC). This inaugural season aims to enhance opportunities for young athletes, particularly as they prepare for potential Montana High School Association (MHSA)-sanctioned baseball next spring.

The Great Falls Outlaws junior varsity team, comprised of players from Great Falls High and CMR, is at the forefront of this initiative. Outlaws head coach Greg Schoby highlighted the importance of fostering high school baseball in the region. “Our goal is to push high school baseball and keep kids involved in the sport,” Schoby said. Given the late start of the season, the team focused on establishing a junior varsity squad for players aged 16 and under.

Players like incoming juniors Cale Griffin and Deakin Boles have expressed enthusiasm about the MCBC. “It’s a blast to be out here playing together,” Griffin remarked. Both players noted that the league helps them adapt to high school rules and competition formats, enhancing their skills while fostering camaraderie.

“Playing against older and younger athletes gives us a broader perspective of the game,” Boles added, eagerly anticipating the possibilities of high school baseball, which could bring healthy rivalries among friends and teammates.

This past weekend marked the official kickoff of the MCBC season, and both players are already cherishing their experiences. “I love every moment spent on the field,” Griffin stated. As the league gains traction, it exemplifies a growing passion for baseball across Montana, promising more excitement for players and fans alike.
