California High School Star Gavin Wilkins Commits to Montana State

Bozeman, MT – In an exciting development for Montana State University’s football program, Gavin Wilkins, a rising star offensive lineman from Servite High School in Anaheim, California, has announced his commitment to the Bobcats. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound athlete shared his decision on social media, becoming the fifth known recruit in the Class of 2026 to join MSU.

Wilkins cited trust and support from head coach Brent Vigen and offensive line coach Matt Smith as pivotal factors in his decision. “They genuinely thought I was ready to play for them,” Wilkins expressed. After attending an MSU football camp, he received a full-ride scholarship offer shortly before finalizing his commitment. Given limited interest from other programs, he didn’t hesitate to accept the Bobcats’ offer.

Coach Vigen reassured Wilkins after the camp: “You honestly earned it.” This affirmation, coupled with the positive relationship Wilkins has with Coach Smith—dating back to Smith’s previous coaching tenure at Fresno State—solidified his choice. Wilkins appreciates Coach Smith’s emphasis on family within the program, noting the need for strong support as he embarks on his college journey.

Originally from Bloomington, Indiana, Wilkins moved to California before high school and played as an offensive tackle for three seasons. However, he’ll transition to tight end for his senior year at Servite to better utilize his pass-catching skills. Wilkins anticipates returning to tackle at MSU, where he joins fellow recruits including quarterback Jackson Presley and wide receiver Greyson Stevens.

Engaging with the community has left a lasting impression on Wilkins. “The people there are all behind you,” he said, reinforcing the strong bond that will accompany him to Bozeman. With his commitment, Wilkins looks forward to a promising future with the Bobcats.
