George Helms Joins Montana State Bobcats After Leaving Elon

George Helms Transfers from Elon to Montana State, Returning to His Roots in Big Sky

Big Sky, MT — In an exciting development for local football fans, George Helms, the standout running back from Lone Peak High School, has officially transferred from Elon University to Montana State University (MSU), as announced by MSU on Monday. Helms is the first former Lone Peak Bighorn to join the Bobcats, marking a significant milestone for both player and program.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the move, Helms tweeted, “Dream come true. Let’s work!!” after MSU’s announcement. This transition brings Helms back to his Montana roots, where he made a name for himself as a versatile athlete at Lone Peak, playing not only as a running back but also as a linebacker and kick returner over three seasons. His standout performance earned him an all-state selection, and he capped his high school career at IMG Academy in Florida, known for its competitive football program.

Last season at Elon, Helms participated in one game, recording 10 yards on two carries, as he prepares for a fresh start with the Bobcats, who compete in the FCS alongside Elon. This transfer adds to a wave of new talent at MSU, as they also welcomed four other transfer additions on the same day: running back Cale Breslin, quarterback Justin Lamson, wide receiver Chris Long, and cornerback Bryson Parker.

As Helms embarks on this new journey, both he and MSU are poised for a promising season ahead. For the latest updates on Bobcats football, contact Victor Flores, the team’s beat writer for 406 MT Sports, via email at victor.flores@406mtsports.com or follow him on Twitter at @VictorFlores406.
