BILLINGS — At Billings Senior High, identical twin wrestlers Seri and Sophi Catt stand out, not just for their remarkable wrestling accolades, but for their unique personalities. Despite being twins, they embrace their differences: Seri describes herself as more organized, while Sophi leans towards a go-with-the-flow attitude.
Once skeptical about wrestling, the sisters’ journey began when their mother, Jessy, encouraged them to attend a wrestling camp during their freshman year. This pivotal moment transformed their outlook, turning hesitance into enthusiasm. "It was amazing," said Seri, echoing Sophi’s sentiments about their newfound passion.
Now juniors and accomplished athletes, both are determined to improve upon their state finishes: Seri aims for a higher standing than her last year’s third place, while Sophi seeks to surpass her fifth place. Their team, the Broncs, is poised to pursue a third consecutive state title next week in Billings.
Reflecting on their upbringing, they recalled the challenges of being indistinguishable in their younger years, sharing amusing stories of switching classes to ace tests. Even their wrestling coach, Charlie Klepps, recognizes them mostly by hairstyle, with Sophi sporting distinctive dreadlocks.
Although practice can sometimes lead to tensions, the twins remain committed to their sport and their bond. "I want to go to college with my sister. It could be really fun," Sophi expressed. Seri concurred, appreciating the built-in friendship that comes with being twins.
As they continue to make their mark in wrestling, Seri and Sophi Catt demonstrate that individuality and teamwork can coexist beautifully on and off the mat.
