BILLINGS — Over 100 youth soccer teams from Montana, Wyoming, and North Dakota convened at Amend Park for the second annual Scheels 406 Cup, emphasizing the importance of making competitive soccer accessible to all. The tournament attracted more than 1,000 young athletes, showcasing the growing enthusiasm for the sport.
Returning champion Clayton Smith, 15, expressed his passion for soccer, aiming to lead his team, Real 2010 Gold, to victory once again. Young players like Haddie Kincaid and Everlee Hunter echoed similar sentiments, eager to compete and have fun.
Co-organizer and tournament director Dom Duchesneau noted that the event extends beyond wins; it celebrates youth soccer and community spirit. Richard Duffy, Director of Coaching for Real Billings, highlighted the tournament’s inclusive mission, reflecting founder Martin Smith’s vision of affordable soccer.
Established in 2017 with a focus on affordability, Real Billings now serves over 580 players, solidifying its status as one of Montana’s largest competitive clubs. Supported by numerous sponsors and volunteers, the 406 Cup has become a community staple, fostering a love for soccer among young talents and encouraging personal growth both on and off the field.
