Record Heat Forecasted for Saturday, Followed by Cooler Temperatures | Montana Local Weather

Weather Alert Issued for Central and Western Montana

MONTANA — Central and western Montana are under a weather alert due to an anticipated heat wave, with temperatures soaring 10 to 20 degrees above normal. A heat advisory has been issued for the Missoula, Bitterroot, Mission, and Flathead Valleys, as a ridge of high pressure settles over the region. Clear skies and gusty winds are expected, particularly in northeast Montana, prompting a wind advisory for Fort Peck Lake, where gusts could reach up to 35 mph.

The exceptional heat is expected to persist through the first half of the weekend before a cold front ushers in cooler temperatures starting Sunday. Rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for the southeast portion of the state, from Dillon to Lewistown to Glasgow, with some areas possibly receiving between half an inch and an inch of rain.

As Monday and Tuesday approach, temperatures are projected to plummet to the 50s and 60s, providing a sharp contrast to the current heat. Overnight lows will range from the mid 40s to mid 50s, with tomorrow’s highs reaching the mid 80s to mid 90s. Warmer weather is expected again late next week. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and take precautions against the heat.
