Press Release: Montana Football to Showcase Two Nationally Televised Games this Season

MISSOULA — The Montana Grizzlies football team is set for an exciting season, featuring two regular-season games on national television as part of the FCS preseason top-25 matchups. This marks a significant opportunity for the Griz, who will be the first team in the Big Sky Conference to appear on the ESPN family of networks.

The action kicks off on September 27, when the Griz host the Idaho Vandals in a highly anticipated showdown. While the exact kickoff time and network details will be confirmed later, this game is expected to draw considerable attention. Additionally, Montana will feature on ESPN2 on October 24 against Sacramento State, with a kickoff time slated for 8:30 p.m.

In partnership with ESPN, other Big Sky teams will also showcase their talent on a national platform, including Northern Arizona versus Idaho on October 31 and Montana State against UC Davis on November 15.

The Griz are poised for strong competition, currently ranked No. 7 in HERO Sports’ preseason poll, trailing Idaho at No. 10 and Sacramento State at No. 12. Montana’s recent history in games aired on ESPN has been impressive, with a record of 4-1 since 2023.

The upcoming season will see the Griz opening at home against Central Washington on September 6, with a notable schedule featuring eight regular-season home games—the first of its kind for any FCS program. The team will enjoy a home-heavy September, playing five of their next six games at Washington-Grizzly Stadium, including key matches against Eastern Washington and Montana State later in the season.

Fans can anticipate an action-packed season as the Griz aim for success on both the field and the national stage.
