Man Arrested in Coeur d’Alene for Homicide Linked to Montana
COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho — Authorities have arrested a man in Coeur d’Alene in connection with a homicide investigation out of Havre, Montana. According to the Havre Police Department, officers discovered the body of 35-year-old Dixie Schroeder on May 7, prompting a thorough investigation that revealed she was likely a victim of foul play.
Cody Rencruel, 35, identified as a person of interest, was located in the Coeur d’Alene area with Schroeder’s vehicle in his possession. On May 8, with assistance from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and other Montana agencies, Rencruel was arrested and is now facing charges of deliberate homicide.
Furthermore, evidence indicates Rencruel may have been planning additional violent crimes at the time of his apprehension. He is currently held at the Kootenai County Detention Center. The case remains under investigation.
