Billings Gears Up for 44th Montana Women’s Run

BILLINGS, MT — Anticipation is mounting for the annual Montana Women’s Run, set to take place on Saturday, May 10, in downtown Billings. Celebrating its 44th year, this cherished event has united women from the community for over four decades, beginning in 1982 with just 200 participants.

Jessica Braaten, a long-time participant, reflects on the event’s special significance, particularly as a Mother’s Day tradition for her family. “It’s really fun to see that many women in one setting doing something united,” she shared. Braaten, who has been attending since she was three, now participates alongside her grandmother and daughters, creating generational memories.

The event features a five-mile race kicking off at 8 a.m., followed by a two-mile run at 9 a.m., both starting at Second Avenue North between North 24th and North 25th Streets. "It’s a wonderful thing that our community does," Braaten remarked, emphasizing the sense of community and connection that the Montana Women’s Run fosters. As thousands don their vibrant shirts and take to the streets, this year’s run promises to continue the tradition of joy and empowerment among women.
