Seth Amunrud Returns Home to Play for Montana State
BOZEMAN — After an impressive stint at Dawson Community College, Bozeman native Seth Amunrud has officially committed to playing basketball for Montana State University. Amunrud, a 2023 graduate of Manhattan Christian High School, quickly established himself as a standout at Dawson, earning honors such as Mon-Dak Athletic Conference MVP and NJCAA Second Team All-American.
Initially committed to Division I basketball at the University of Denver, Amunrud had to reassess his options following a coaching change. After successful visits to UC San Diego and the University of Tennessee at Martin, he chose to return to his roots.
A lifelong Bobcat fan, Amunrud expressed excitement about the opportunity to play for his hometown team, stating, “I was raised a Bobcat fan, and to have a chance to now be a part of it is a sweet opportunity.” He credits his success in basketball to hard work and dedication, having transformed his physique and skills during his time at Dawson. Amunrud averaged 21.1 points per game in his sophomore year, showcasing his shooting ability with 55.2% from the field and impressive free throw consistency at 88.7%.
His college coach, Joe Peterson, praised Amunrud as potentially the best Montanan to pass through Dawson’s program. Amunrud’s commitment to MSU marks a significant moment in his career as he seeks to contribute to the team’s success, driven by a focus on teamwork.
As Amunrud prepares for the NJCAA Men’s Basketball All-Star Game and his transition back to Bozeman, he aims to help Montana State secure a Big Sky championship, hoping to make a lasting impact on the program.
