Ohio Police Discover Raccoon with Meth Pipe During Traffic Stop

In a bizarre incident during a traffic stop in Ohio, a raccoon named “Chewy” was found in a vehicle holding a glass methamphetamine pipe in its mouth. Officers laughed, noting that finding a raccoon with a drug pipe was a first for them. Upon further investigation, they discovered the driver, Victoria Vidal, had the appropriate paperwork to own the raccoon, as domestication is legal in Ohio. However, the stop escalated when officers found a significant amount of illegal drugs, including methamphetamine and crack cocaine, as well as other used drug paraphernalia in the car.

The traffic stop occurred after police noticed that the registered owner of the vehicle had an active warrant and a suspended driver’s license. Vidal, 55, from Akron, was subsequently charged with three counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and cited for driving under suspension. Additional charges for crack cocaine possession are pending lab results.

While Chewy was unharmed, officers placed the raccoon in a carrier and contacted the Ohio Department of Natural Resources to find a safer home for it. The Springfield Township Police Department emphasized their commitment to community safety, showcasing their ability to handle unexpected situations with humor and professionalism. This unusual case garnered attention on social media, highlighting the odd intersection of wildlife and drug-related crime.
