Montana Department of Public Health Highlights Maternal Mental Health Resources

Montana – In recognition of National Maternal Mental Health Month, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is emphasizing the vital resources available for mothers. The Maternal Mental Health Hotline, operational 24/7, serves as a key support system for those experiencing mental health challenges.

Statistics reveal that one in five women in Montana faces depression during pregnancy, while 13.5% encounter postpartum depression. Mandi Zanto, Director of DPHHS’s Early Childhood and Family Support Division, underscored the hotline’s importance: “The primary function is to provide immediate counseling and support.”

Over the past three years, this national hotline has assisted over 54,000 individuals, with its promotion in Montana extending over the past year. Mothers who reach out engage in an intake process to receive tailored care, effectively connecting them with local resources.

Zanto highlighted the significance of these services, particularly in rural areas, stating, “It’s vital to raise awareness about the support available for these moms.” For immediate assistance, the hotline can be contacted at 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262), accessible at any time.
