Montana Promotes Maternal Mental Health Support During National Awareness Month
MONTANA – In observance of National Maternal Mental Health Month, the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) is spotlighting the Maternal Mental Health Hotline, a vital resource for expecting and new mothers. Available 24/7, the hotline offers immediate counseling and connects women with local services tailored to their individual needs.
According to DPHHS, approximately one in five women in Montana experience depression during pregnancy, with 13.5% facing postpartum depression. Mandi Zanto, Director of the DPHHS Early Childhood and Family Support Division, emphasizes the hotline’s significance. "The primary function of the hotline is to provide immediate counseling and support," she stated.
As a national resource that has assisted over 54,000 individuals in the past three years, this hotline has been actively promoted in Montana for over a year. Mothers are guided through a personalized intake process to ensure they receive the care suited to their circumstances.
Particularly in rural areas, awareness of these services is crucial, as Zanto highlighted the ongoing need for support among moms. Interested individuals can reach the hotline at 1-833-TLC-MAMA (1-833-852-6262) at any time.
