Montana Grizzlies Basketball Welcomes Transfer Guard Brooklyn Hicks

MISSOULA, MT – The University of Montana men’s basketball team has secured its fifth transfer in the offseason, signing 6-foot-3 guard Brooklyn Hicks from UNLV. A Seattle native, Hicks brings valuable experience from his two seasons with the Runnin’ Rebels, where he played in 65 games, including 33 in the 2024-25 season, and started in the final seven.

Hicks accumulated 221 points throughout his tenure at UNLV, averaging 3.4 points per game, alongside 55 assists. Last season, he also contributed an average of 3.0 rebounds and recorded 23 steals. UM head coach Travis DeCuire expressed optimism about Hicks joining the program. “Brooklyn will be a great addition to our program. We believe he will significantly impact our versatility on both ends of the floor,” DeCuire noted.

After the dismissal of UNLV coach Kevin Kruger, Hicks entered the transfer portal and was quick to receive attention from DeCuire, who leveraged local connections to initiate early discussions. “Travis was actually the first person to call me when my name went into the portal,” Hicks shared, expressing his enthusiasm for joining a winning program.

“I’m honored to be recruited by Montana. They have shown they can win under Coach DeCuire,” he added. Known for his high-energy play, Hicks promises fans a dynamic contribution this upcoming season. “Expect a lot more from me this year than you’ve seen in the last two years,” he affirmed.

Hicks is the third guard to join Montana this offseason, alongside Courtney Anderson Jr. from Colorado and Tyler Isaak from Citrus College. With players like Kadyn Betts and Trae Taylor also on board, the Grizzlies are aiming for a strong season ahead.
