Montana Special Elections: Preliminary Results Released
MONTANA – Preliminary results from the special elections held on May 6, 2025, show varying support for school funding initiatives across the state.
In Missoula, the Missoula Elementary District’s general fund levy passed with 56% approval (5,879 votes), while the Missoula High School District’s general fund levy also secured 56% (5,937 votes). However, the safety fund levy faced a tighter race, with 51% (5,346 votes) in favor, contrasting with 49% opposed.
In Bozeman, voters approved the Bozeman Elementary Annual General Fund Operating Levy with 60% support (7,894 votes) and the high school levy with 57% (8,951 votes). A building reserve levy for the elementary school also passed with 56% (7,431 votes).
Conversely, in Yellowstone County, several proposals faced significant opposition. Canyon Creek School District #4’s levy was rejected by 60% of voters, while Elder Grove #8’s mill levy failed with 66% against. Laurel schools also saw losses with their various levies, including the general fund, which garnered only 41% support.
As final totals are compiled, these preliminary results highlight the mixed sentiments among Montana voters regarding educational funding.
