Anduril Industries Acquires Klas to Enhance Edge Computing and Tactical Communications Capabilities
Anduril Industries has officially entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Klas, a prominent leader in edge computing and tactical communications, pending regulatory approval. This strategic acquisition aims to bolster Anduril’s portfolio by integrating Klas’s rugged hardware with its autonomous systems and connected warfare technologies.
In a statement, Anduril emphasized the evolving demands of modern defense operations, stating, “Compute and connectivity must go wherever the mission goes—not just where infrastructure permits.” Klas is celebrated for its Voyager line—a robust suite of compute and networking systems engineered to function in extreme conditions, including high temperatures and high interference environments. These Voyager products are already utilized in Anduril’s Menace systems, facilitating operations across ground, maritime, and aerial domains.
The acquisition is expected to enhance real-time decision-making and mission execution, as Anduril conveyed, “Every autonomous system is only as capable as the compute and comms it carries—together, they form the nervous system.” By combining Anduril’s Lattice software and sensor capabilities with Klas’ infrastructure, the company anticipates creating more deployable and maintainable mission-specific systems. According to Anduril, this collaboration will enable the delivery of lightweight, mission-tailored systems that are quicker to deploy and more resilient under pressure.
Post-acquisition, Klas will maintain operations in its existing locations in Ireland and the United States. Additionally, Anduril plans to expand manufacturing capacities and establish its first office in Dublin, increasing its footprint across Europe, the UK, Australia, Japan, and Taiwan. This strategic move underscores Anduril’s commitment to enhancing defense technologies in increasingly complex operational environments.
