MSU Signs Football Coach Brent Vigen to a New Four-Year Contract

Brent Vigen Secures New Contract Ahead of FCS Championship Game

BOZEMAN, Montana – In a season marked by historic success, Montana State University (MSU) head football coach Brent Vigen has signed a new four-year contract, as announced by Director of Athletics Leon Costello. This deal extends through March 31, 2029, reinforcing Vigen’s pivotal role as the Bobcats prepare for their upcoming FCS Championship Game against second-seeded North Dakota State on January 6 in Frisco, Texas.

Under Vigen’s leadership, the Bobcats are enjoying a record-setting campaign, boasting a 15-game winning streak—the longest in school history—and finishing the season undefeated at 15-0. "I’m extremely grateful to President Cruzado and Leon for their continued support," Vigen stated. He expressed his family’s enjoyment of their time in Bozeman and gratitude to staff and players for their dedication to the program.

In his fourth year at the helm, Vigen has compiled an impressive 47-9 record, leading the team to the FCS Playoffs for the fourth consecutive season and achieving back-to-back appearances in semifinal and championship games. This year, he became the school’s first-ever winner of the Stats Perform FCS Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award and was also honored as Big Sky Coach of the Year.

Costello praised Vigen’s ability to elevate the football program and foster an environment of growth and excellence among players. "The Bobcat football program has soared to new heights under his leadership," Costello remarked, emphasizing Vigen’s role as a mentor and positive influence.

With the Cats ranked No. 1 in the Stats Perform and AFCA polls, the spirit is high as they gear up for what could be a historic championship encounter. The Bobcat community is rallying behind their team in anticipation of the big game.
