Title: Japanese Consul General Makoto Iyori Visits Montana State University to Foster International Relations
Bozeman, MT — Students at the Jake Jabs College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Montana State University (MSU) were recently presented with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of international relations through a visit from Makoto Iyori, the Japanese Consul General in Seattle. Speaking to approximately 75 students in an International Business class led by instructor Thomas Lechner, Iyori emphasized the importance of the longstanding relationship between Montana and Japan.
Lechner, who has deep ties to Japan, noted that his aim is to ignite students’ curiosity for international exploration. Iyori discussed Japan’s robust economic partnerships with the U.S., highlighting that Japanese companies have created over one million jobs in America and expressed a desire to further enhance these ties. He pointed out key exports from Montana to Japan, such as coal, wheat, and beef, underscoring the significance of agricultural trade.
After the class, Iyori met with MSU’s College of Business Dean Brian Gillespie and various international programs officials to discuss strengthening collaboration. This visit is part of MSU’s commitment to broadening its global perspectives, aiming to equip students for a world increasingly interconnected by international partnerships.
