Local Fourth Graders Raise Over $900 for Carousel in Missoula

MISSOULA, Mont. – Fourth graders from St. Joseph School in Missoula have transformed a classroom assignment into a heartwarming community initiative, raising over $900 for the cherished Downtown Carousel. The project originated in the fall when students, acting as travel agents, identified their favorite local attractions, with the Carousel standing out as a unanimous choice. This inspired the students to give back to the community through fundraising efforts.

On Friday, they proudly presented their collection of coins and dollars to the Carousel’s management, highlighting the importance of communal support. Community outreach is not new to these students; they previously gathered socks for the Poverello Center, showcasing their ongoing commitment to charitable efforts.

The project culminated in a delightful field trip, where students celebrated their success with a ride on the Carousel, reinforcing their bond with the local community. This initiative, which has been in development since October, reflects the dedication of both the students and their teachers to fostering a spirit of giving and community engagement among young learners in Missoula.
