BILLINGS, MT — An 18-year-old man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison, with 10 years suspended, for his role in the tragic shooting death of Chandler Stalcup, a Rocky Mountain College football player. Garrett Door III received the sentence from Yellowstone County District Judge Thomas Pardy, following his conviction for deliberate homicide by accountability.
The incident occurred on October 28, 2023, when Door, driving a vehicle, had Sidney Cruz DeCrane Jr. as a passenger. During the incident, DeCrane allegedly fired a shot into another car, hitting Stalcup—a freshman from Clearwater, Florida—who was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Stalcup was innocently picking up a friend from a nearby party where a disturbance had erupted.
Prosecutors revealed that Door had been involved in an altercation prior to the shooting and, along with friends including DeCrane, sought out a rival group potentially seeking revenge.
