Community Events at the Danish Museum This Summer
The Danish Museum invites the community to a series of engaging events this summer, merging cultural enrichment with outdoor enjoyment. Kicking off the festivities, Storytime in the Prairie offers a delightful experience for Kindergarten through third graders on June 13, July 18, and August 8 from 10 to 11 a.m. Participants will enjoy stories read by the Elk Horn Public Library, alongside themed snacks and activities, fostering a love for reading in a serene natural setting.
Following closely, Yoga in the Prairie on June 14, July 12, and August 9, also from 10 to 11 a.m., welcomes all skill levels to practice yoga amidst nature’s tranquility. Led by instructor Katie Sandquist, sessions cost $8 each, or $6 for museum members. Registration is required for each session at www.danishmuseum.org.
On June 21, from 6 to 10 p.m., the popular Sankt Hans Aften will celebrate with traditional Danish food, including rød pølse and s’mores, and a bonfire at sunset. Guests are encouraged to bring their own seating and lawn games while enjoying live music from Kristian Bugge and Ruthie Dornfeld.
Additionally, the museum will host a Viking Camp on June 28 for Grades 4 – 8, running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This immersive experience introduces participants to Viking culture for $25, or $20 for museum members, including lunch.
Lastly, the Ceramics Camp on July 19 promises an artistic adventure from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the same age group, with similar pricing and a focus on Danish design.
Spaces for all events are limited, encouraging early registration and participation. For more information, visit the museum’s website.
