Montana State Track and Field Gears Up for Bengal Invitational
BOZEMAN, Mont. – As May approaches, Montana State University’s track and field team is set to compete in the Bengal Invitational in Pocatello, Idaho, this weekend, marking the penultimate meet of their season. Fresh from a record-breaking April, the Bobcats will clash with teams including host Idaho State and Montana, serving as a final preparation for the upcoming Big Sky Outdoor Track & Field Championships from May 14-17 in Sacramento.
Head coach Lyle Weese expressed optimism about the event, noting its value as a preview for the conference meet with competitions in sprints, jumps, vaults, and throws. The meet kicks off on Friday with women’s hammer events at 1 p.m., followed by the 100-meter hurdle prelims at 3 p.m.
The team has achieved remarkable success, setting nine school records in recent weeks. Kyla Christopher-Moody and Sydney Brewster received accolades as Big Sky Athletes of the Week for their outstanding performances. Currently, the women rank third and the men seventh in the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Rankings. Following the Bengal Invitational, the Bobcats will conclude their season at the Tom Gage Invite on May 9 in Bozeman. Admission to the home meet is free.
