Coastal Charm and Communal Dining: A Taste of New Hospitality Ventures

In the heart of Goa, Jolene by the Sea emerges as a tribute to worldly travels, brought to life by former actor Amrita Arora Ladak and her husband Shakeel Ladak, alongside experienced restaurateurs Gaurav Batra, Ankit Tayal, and Michelin-starred chef Suvir Saran. “When you enter, you could be anywhere in the world,” Amrita says, describing the venue inspired by their travels to quaint coastal towns in Europe. Named after the iconic Dolly Parton song, Jolene embodies a cultured traveler filled with stories and memories, with a design reminiscent of a cozy vacation home adorned with artifacts from abroad.

Meanwhile, in Indore, cricket superstar Virat Kohli continues his culinary expansion with the just-opened One8 Commune. This new outpost features a two-storey design with a spacious outdoor dining area that showcases the city’s landscape. The unique aspect of this location is Kohli’s commitment to celebrating each city through its culinary offerings. Since its inception, One8 Commune has branched out to seven cities, all emphasizing communal dining, and the Indore branch embodies this philosophy strongly.

Co-owned by Kohli under True Palate Pvt Ltd, the 6,500-square-foot restaurant, opened last December, focuses on comfort and connection, decorated by interior designer Minnie Bhatt. The space, designed using natural textures and warm tones, invites patrons into a sophisticated yet cozy environment. The earthy color palette fosters an atmosphere that encourages mingling and enjoying good food—perfectly aligning with the communal theme that defines Kohli’s vision.

With Jolene by the Sea and One8 Commune, both ventures highlight a blend of global influences and local culture, redefining dining experiences in Goa and Indore, respectively.
