Great Falls CMR’s Quinton Cayko to Bowl at the Collegiate Level in Michigan

Great Falls Bowler Quinton Cayko Pursues Dreams on a National Stage

GREAT FALLS — Quinton Cayko, a senior at Great Falls CMR, is breaking barriers in bowling, a sport not typically offered at the high school level in Montana. Driven by passion, Cayko has actively participated in the state’s Big Sky tour, a series of tournaments designed for youth bowlers to earn scholarship money and develop their skills.

"This competition runs from September to March with one tournament each month," Cayko shared during a recent interview at Little’s Lanes in Great Falls. His dedication is apparent; he averaged an impressive score of 230 this season, a significant jump from 210 and 170 in previous years. Due to his accomplishments, he will continue his bowling career at Lawrence Technological University in Michigan as part of the NAIA next year.

Cayko described this opportunity as a lifelong dream come true. “I always dreamed of it since I was younger that I would be able to do this someday,” he said, expressing both joy and disbelief at reaching this level.

Though he has yet to achieve a perfect game of 300 in competition, Cayko has come close, scoring 299 and 298. He recalls his early days in bowling fondly, especially when he won his first tournament as a freshman—an unexpected victory that ignited his passion for the sport.

He emphasizes the importance of technique, particularly footwork, in achieving consistent strikes: “If my footwork isn’t stable, everything can go wrong,” he noted.

As Cayko joins Lawrence Technological University’s bowling program, he aims to contribute to their success following a recent appearance in the NAIA men’s national tournament, showcasing his potential to elevate the team’s performance in the coming years.
