In Memoriam: Lieutenant Colonel Raymond R. Carlson, U.S. Army (Ret.)

McMinnville, OR – The community mourns the passing of Lieutenant Colonel Raymond R. Carlson, affectionately known as RayBob, who departed this life on April 22, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on December 16, 1930, RayBob leaves behind a legacy defined by courage, warmth, and a radiant smile that brightened every gathering.

RayBob’s illustrious military career as a Huey helicopter pilot included two tours in Vietnam, where he earned the respect of his peers and the gratitude of a grateful nation. His engaging stories from the skies showcased his humility and commitment to service.

Outside the military, RayBob found joy in family, fishing, and hunting. He shared a deep bond with his late wife, Donna Ann, and cherished gatherings filled with laughter. He is survived by six children, 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, each reflecting his enduring love.

A man of faith and generosity, RayBob’s impact was felt by all who knew him. To honor his memory, donations to Veteran Care Organizations are encouraged. A celebration of his life will be announced later. RayBob’s spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of many.
