MDT seeks feedback on resurfacing project for Highway 2 in Northwest Montana

The Montana Department of Transportation is seeking public input on a proposed resurfacing project in northwest Montana. The project will cover approximately 11 1/2 miles between Pinnacle and Essex, with work including milling, a new asphalt overlay, chip seal, guardrail replacement, minor bridge repairs, and more. No new right-of-way or utility relocations will be necessary for the project.

Construction is set to begin near Stanton Creek Crossing and end at the Middle Fork of the Flathead River Bridge. The project, expected to commence in 2026 pending funding, aims to preserve and prolong the life of the road.

Input and feedback on the project can be submitted through the Montana Department of Transportation website or by mail to the Missoula office. The project number is UPN 10541000. This resurfacing project is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve infrastructure in the state of Montana.
