Trae Taylor from Chico State announces commitment to Montana Grizzlies

The University of Montana men’s basketball team continues to make moves this offseason, adding their third transfer, Trae Taylor, from the NCAA Division II level. The 6-foot-9 forward announced his commitment to the Grizzlies on social media, bringing one season of eligibility after a standout season at Chico State in 2024-25. Taylor earned his first all-conference award, landing on the California Collegiate Athletic Association second team, while averaging 13.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

Having appeared in 81 games and making 31 starts in college, Taylor brings experience and skill to the Grizzlies lineup. His addition adds depth and talent to the team, which also includes transfers Kadyn Betts and Courtney Anderson Jr. from Minnesota and Colorado, respectively.

Taylor’s connection to Chico State, where associate head coach Chris Cobb and assistant coach Jay Flores have ties, adds an interesting dynamic to the team. Former Montana guard Malik Moore also made a move, signing with Xavier to play in the Big East Conference after earning All-Big Sky second-team honors in 2024-25.

The Grizzlies are building a strong lineup for the upcoming season, with Taylor’s addition adding versatility and talent to the roster. Fans are excited to see how the team will perform with these new additions and returning players, setting the stage for an exciting season of basketball in Montana.
