Whitney Morrison, a track and field athlete from Montana, has been recognized as the Big Sky Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week. Morrison, a Missoula Big Sky graduate, achieved four personal best marks in the heptathlon event at the Bryan Clay Multis, scoring 5,327 points over two days at Azusa Pacific. This score is the best by a Grizzly athlete since 2019. Morrison’s performance also ranks her as the conference leader in the event this season and 21st nationally. She excelled in events such as the high jump, 200 meters, long jump, and 800, setting multiple personal records along the way.
Montana coach Doug Fraley praised Morrison for her outstanding achievement and deserving recognition as the Athlete of the Week. Morrison’s consistent performance across all seven events at the Bryan Clay Multis contributed to her high score and recognition in the conference. This is the second time in four weeks that Montana has received this award, with Morrison’s previous indoor pentathlon win contributing to her outdoor recognition.
Morrison will be taking a break this week, while a select group of Grizzlies will attend upcoming meets in California. Morrison’s dedication and exceptional performance have solidified her position as a top athlete in the Big Sky Conference and nationally.
