Great Falls, Montana – The NAIA national women’s tournament began with a thrilling start as Providence hosted the first and second-round games at the McLaughlin Center. In the first game, the fifth-seeded Argos faced off against the No. 12 College of Idaho Yotes. Providence seemed poised for a win until the Yotes staged a comeback in the fourth quarter, forcing overtime with a game-tying basket by Taryn Riley. Ultimately, College of Idaho pulled off an upset with a 58-56 victory, led by Anna Mooney and Riley.
In the second game, No. 4 Georgetown dominated No. 13 Jamestown, outscoring them 25-18 in the first quarter and setting the tone for the game. Georgetown’s 35-point second quarter secured a halftime lead of 60-33, leading to a final score of 93-62 in favor of the Tigers.
Georgetown and College of Idaho will face off in the next round for a chance to advance to the NAIA final national site in Sioux City, Iowa. The winners of these games will move on to the Round of 16 in the tournament.
