Six women are set to make history by embarking on the first all-female space flight in over 60 years. The crew includes notable figures such as Lauren Sanchez, Katy Perry, and Gayle King. The women will be wearing custom-designed space suits created by Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim of Monse, which have been tailored to their exact measurements. The suits have a unique design, combining elements of “Star Trek” and Elvis Presley’s Vegas attire, made out of flame-resistant neoprene.
The crew will launch on the Blue Origin rocket for an approximate 11-minute trip past the Kármán line into zero gravity. The suits were designed with both comfort and style in mind, featuring a dual-zip front, belt, and flared effect on the legs. The crew members aim to inspire others through their groundbreaking journey, showcasing that there are no limits to what one can achieve.
The crew members have gone to great lengths to prepare for the launch, with some even skydiving to test their hairstyles. The mission is set to take place on Monday, April 14, with expectations high for this diverse group of women to make a lasting impact on the history of space exploration. With a focus on empowerment and breaking barriers, these women are ready to bring a little spice to space.
